Privacy Policy

FiberFlow is an Android crafting companion for knitters and crocheters, published by TechJeeper. This policy explains what information the app and this website process, including optional Google Drive backup used through Google OAuth.

Summary

Your yarn stash, patterns, projects, and related crafting data stay on your device by default. Optional Ravelry integration exchanges data with Ravelry only when you connect and choose to import, add, push, or pull items. Optional Google Drive backup stores a FiberFlow backup ZIP in your Drive when you connect and upload, or automatically when Keep devices in sync is on. We do not operate a FiberFlow cloud server that collects your crafting library.

Information stored on your device

When you use FiberFlow, the app may store locally on your phone or tablet:

• Yarn stash entries, photos, and notes you add
• Pattern files, bookmarks, annotations, and metadata
• Project progress, queue order, tools inventory, and local backup files you create
• App preferences and optional Ravelry OAuth tokens if you connect Ravelry
• Optional Google Drive connection details (account email and the id of the FiberFlow backup file) if you connect Drive

This data stays on your device unless you export it (for example via backup ZIP, CSV, PDF, or the Android share sheet), use Ravelry integration, or choose to upload a backup to your Google Drive.

Google Drive and Google user data

Google Drive backup is optional. You can use FiberFlow without connecting a Google account. When you tap Connect Google Drive in Settings, FiberFlow asks Google for permission to:

• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file — create, read, update, and delete only files and folders that FiberFlow creates or that you open with FiberFlow. The app creates a folder named FiberFlow and a file named fiberflow-backup.zip. FiberFlow cannot see, list, or download your other Drive files.
• email — read the email address of the Google account you connect, so the app can show which account is connected.

When you tap Upload to Drive, or when Keep devices in sync is on and you leave the app with unsaved library changes, FiberFlow writes a ZIP of your local library to that backup file. The ZIP can include yarn, tools, patterns (including PDFs and photos you imported), projects, annotations, and selected app preferences. The file lives in your Google account and counts against your Drive storage. When you tap Restore from Drive, or when Keep devices in sync is on and Drive has a newer copy, FiberFlow downloads that same backup file and replaces the library on that device. If both this phone and Drive have changes, the app asks which copy to keep.

Access tokens stay on your device. FiberFlow does not run a server that receives or stores your Google access tokens, email address, or Drive files. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers or ad platforms.

Disconnecting Drive in Settings removes the Google session from the app and does not delete the backup file in your Drive. You can delete the FiberFlow folder or fiberflow-backup.zip in Google Drive at any time. You can also revoke FiberFlow’s access at Google Account permissions. Google’s handling of files in your account is described in Google’s privacy policy.

Camera and photos

If you grant camera permission, FiberFlow uses the camera to scan yarn label photos, pattern pages, and QR codes for handoff. Images are processed on-device for text recognition where supported. Photos you attach are stored locally as part of your library.

Internet and third-party services

FiberFlow uses the internet when you:

• Import patterns from websites
• Connect to Ravelry via OAuth and import stash, patterns, or projects, or add, push, or pull individual yarn and project entries you choose
• Load pattern thumbnails or other content from external URLs you choose
• Optionally connect Google Drive and upload or restore a FiberFlow backup, including automatic sync when that setting is on
• Optionally send a diagnostic log from Settings

Ravelry integration is optional and governed by Ravelry’s privacy policy. When connected, the app exchanges OAuth tokens and requested library data with Ravelry’s API according to the permissions you approve, including imports you start and individual yarn or project entries you add, push, or pull.

On-device text recognition may use Google ML Kit components included with the app; processing occurs on your device for supported features.

If you send a diagnostic log, FiberFlow posts a sanitized report to a private TechJeeper Discord channel. That report can include device model, app version, whether Ravelry or Drive is connected, and recent error messages. It does not include your Ravelry password, Google password, or access tokens.

This website

This marketing site uses GoatCounter to count page views. GoatCounter does not use advertising cookies and is not used to sell personal information. Pages may also load fonts from Google Fonts.

Data you share

When you use export, backup, or share features, you choose where files go (email, cloud storage, messaging apps, etc.). FiberFlow does not control how those services handle data you share through the system share sheet.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete individual items in the app, purge all local data from Settings, or uninstall the app to remove locally stored information. Disconnecting Ravelry removes stored OAuth tokens from the app. Disconnecting Google Drive removes the local Google session; backups you uploaded to Drive remain in your Google account until you delete them. Exported copies you saved elsewhere are your responsibility to delete.

Children

FiberFlow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version.
